At Barrett Walk Apartments, we’re dedicated to cultivating a community that cares. That’s why we’re thrilled to continue our annual partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by participating in the Light the Night Walk, a beautiful event that raises awareness and funds for the fight against blood cancers.
This year, we’re inviting all of our residents and the wider Atlanta community to walk with us, as we carry lanterns of hope, remembrance, and support in the fight against these devastating diseases.
What is Light the Night?
Light the Night is a meaningful event designed to bring people together in support of those affected by blood cancers, such as leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma.
Every fall, thousands gather at cities across the nation, carrying illuminated lanterns that symbolize different aspects of the battle against these cancers:
- White Lanterns: Carried by survivors or patients currently battling blood cancer.
- Red Lanterns: Held by supporters, friends, and family standing in solidarity with their loved ones.
- Gold Lanterns: A touching tribute to those we have lost to blood cancer.
This evening of unity is not only a time to reflect but also a chance to come together and show our strength as a community. The walk is a reminder that no one is alone in this fight, and the light we share together helps guide the way toward hope and a cure.
Why Light the Night Matters
Blood cancers continue to impact millions of families across the globe. These diseases don’t discriminate—they affect people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. But events like Light the Night show us that we can make a real difference in the lives of those affected.
By joining hands with LLS, we support their mission to advance research, provide patient services, and advocate for better access to care.
The funds raised from the Light the Night Walk go directly toward life-saving research and support services for patients and families navigating the difficult journey of a cancer diagnosis. Every step we take in this walk brings us closer to a world without blood cancers.
Join Us at the Atlanta Light the Night Walk
This year, the Atlanta Light the Night Walk will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Piedmont Park—a location that’s not just beautiful, but central to the heart of our vibrant city. As dusk falls and the lanterns light up the night, we’ll walk alongside survivors, supporters, and those remembering loved ones.
It’s an evening filled with emotion, solidarity, and hope. Barrett Walk Apartments will be there, walking together as a community, ready to shine a light on the importance of this cause.
We’ll also be raising funds and awareness within our own apartment community leading up to the event. Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to Barrett Walk, we invite you to get involved and be part of something bigger than yourself.
